A new subsea tunnel connecting two villages on separate islands was officially opened this week, further expanding the Faroe Islands' remarkable tunnel network. The 4.2-kilometer tunnel reduces travel time from 45 minutes by ferry to just 6 minutes by car.

The project, completed on time and within budget, demonstrates continued investment in infrastructure that connects remote communities. Residents celebrated the opening with traditional ceremonies and festivities.

Officials noted that the tunnel network now spans over 200 kilometers, one of the most impressive per capita in the world.
